B&W Printing

We use the superb Piezography tm BW system of B&W Giclee printing from Cone Editions in the US to produce stunning large format digital B&W prints up to 24" wide x any length. The Piezography system offers the potential of a wider dynamic range than traditional darkroom prints. It has won wide acclaim in the US. It is particularly suited for the quality obtainable from large format. To get this quality requires special (and very expensive) archival pigmented B&W inks. When printed on fine art papers from Hahnnemuhle, the results can be breathtaking. This is not a cheap alternative to darkroom printing. It is a fine art printing system superior, in the view of many, to any other system. We will not compromise on print quality, and our pricing reflects this. Drum scanning

To make the most of our Piezography printing system, only the highest quality input will do. Inexpensive desktop CCD scanners cannot achieve the quality we demand. We use an expensive drum scanner to scan negatives and transparencies, retaining all the detail in the original. This is the best, but also the most complex, way to scan transparencies and negs. We burn the original scan on the a CD ROM. Our skilled operator can also convert your colour images to B&W in Photoshop - as is the case with 2 of the photographs on this page - for printing with the Piezography system, or just so you can print them yourself.
