Must be hard to concentrate though, presumably using a fast shutter speed ;-)

Adding to the discussion, if it's macro exposure information rather than
reproduction ratio you are interested in, then there's a device available
free from a web site. It's in PDF form and you print it out and paste onto
cardboard after cutting it out. A circular shape is positioned in any
plane near the object and a scale is placed against the ground glass. Have
one in the next room but cannot find the URL - guess it's at work but have
a suspicion that at least one lurker knows it :-)

If you like using a calculator then it is also easy to work out if you know
the lens focal length and image distance. This is my preferred method.

Exposure factor = (Image distance/Focal length)squared

Remember if you are using a telephoto design lens that the node is in front
of the front element. Unlikely if you're doing macro work....

There is loads of useful macro information in Leslie Stroebel's book "View
Camera Technique" which I highly recommend.

All the best,
