Re: [Largeformat] Welcome to Largeformat@onelist.com

Kristin,
Clive is right on about the Lunasix. I have an very early model of the Lunasix
so I have to have a separate Flash Meter, it being a Gossen Flash meter. I have
one of the original LunaPros and then got the updated Lunasix. The nice thing
about the Lunasix I bought is that the accessories for the LunaPro worked on my
Lunasix. Clive is also right about the case and the durability of the meters
when inside the case. I have been high in Rockies at the head waters of the
Colorado river, in the depths of caves, on the ice flats of Iceland and in the
heart of Africa and the Gossen light meters have performed flawlessly for me.
Luckily the Gossens usually use an common battery and if you do any traveling
make sure you carry extras. I remember when I was in Spain and it was after the
Canon A-1's came out, the batteries in the states were about 4 dollars, but in
Spain that same battery was $35. If you need a battery it is better to carry
one with you than trying to replace it in the boonies, for although you might
fine one to purchase you may not know how it has been kept and it might cost a
fortune, especially on a budget.
God Bless and Keep You and Yours,
Regards from Pawnee America and hope you have a Great "National Chocolate
Eclair Day,"

Kristin,
A lot of people like the digital meters, however analogue is more
compatible with the way that we think and visualise exposures.
<snip>
For the handheld meter I very highly recommend the most recent version of
the Gossen Lunasix F - which does incident, reflected, and flash. It is
very accurate, runs on a commonly available 9v battery and comes in a great
leather case which protects it against most misadventures. They may still
be available new and are definitely available on the used marketplace as
people have "upgraded" to digital.....
You can get an attachment which gives you a 5 degree spot - these are again
available secondhand for reasonable prices.
I have always been tempted by one of the Pentax spot meters but not so much
as to spend the money on the meter rather than film or another lens :-)
All the best,
