Pete,
Have played around with one of these lenses. They are intended for
oscilloscope photography with a special film back attachment, probably
35mm. The focal length seems at first to rather interesting, however the
focal plane is extremely close to the lens. The lens would require at the
very least a deeply recessed lens board and even then may not allow
focussing on the film plane of your common or garden 4x5.
As for coverage, it would probably struggle to illuminate the edges of a
6x9 format even when fully stopped down.
If it is cheap then it may be fun to play around with but remember that it
will be optimised for 1:1 and will probably not perform well at inifity.
