Re: [Largeformat] Converting a camera to an enlarger

From: Thomas Huettemann <huette@Mathematik.Uni-Bielefeld.DE>

Thanks for all the discussions and suggestions ! Concerning the
slide projector as a light source I'd like to say that I tried
a similar thing with my 35mm enlarger. The problem is that the
light rays coming out of the enlarger (with or without lens) are
not parallel. Consequently, you end up having a bright "hot" spot
in the middle of the negative and almost no usable illumination
at the edges. I suspect that with a slide projector you'd have
the same kind of problem. However, since it's bright enough, one
might get away with a simple "light mixing chamber": use a white
cardboard or some white piece of metal as a reflector and some opal
glas as a diffusor. I'll try it as soon as I have the time (and can
get a slide projector).
