Pete,
I myself had a similar experience. I discovered that Tmax needs more fixing
time
(most of the time twice as much!) than the classical silver grain films such
as
Ilford Delta 100, FP4, HP5 and even Agfa APX 100.
Running yor films through the fixing bath again might improve the images on
your negatives.
I further discovered that the cast on the negatives has an effect on
multicontrast papers!
The problem mentioned and the fact that I did not like the grain on Tmax
made me switch to Afga APX 100.
