Hello Randle,
The readyloads vary in terms of the accuracy of their film planes - Kodak
are the best bet if you have to take this route. Consider the Grafmatic 6
sheet auto holder if you have a camera with a Graflok (International) back.
Try using a vacuum cleaner on your film holders and very carefully inside
your camera and bellows. Remove the back and lens before putting a vacuum
cleaner anywhere near the camera :-) Also turn your changing bag inside
out and give it a good shaking.....
Try to find a 545 Polaroid back - I prefer them to the later and more
plastic 545i version. Have never bought one new, best to test the back if
at all possible before buying or at least buy from a reputable dealer so
that it can be returned if necessary.
As for film - everyone will have their favourites - Ilford FP4 is good,
Delta 100 and 400 is good but a little more fussy on exposure. Velvia and
Provia for colour trannies. Kodak HSI for infrared but be warned that it
has just been discontinued so you had better be quick :-) Check out the
CoCam web site for more information on infrared film and use in Large
Format cameras in the Infared FAQ.
I have reviewed a number of useful books in the the books section which you
may also find interesting.
Have fun.
