Re: [Largeformat] Large Format film and xrays

Pam,

Thanks.  I'm going to La Paz.  My cousin in building a resort
on 5 miles of beach just south of La Paz.  It's called Bahia de los
Suenos.  I'm going down for a big birthday blowout (his, not mine)
and wanted to shoot the property before development started.  I
don't think I'll be able to develop the negs down there.

I was curious about the susceptibility to X-ray for large negs as
comparted to 35mm.

Thanks,
Larry

You could always send them back rather

sure UPS and FedEx are active there (I've shipped via both
to Mexico, not the other way). I lived in Mexico for a year
or so 22 years ago, crossed the border 4 times altogether
(had to leave after 6 months to reset the clock), never had
any problems with film cartridges; but I was only shooting
35mm at that time.

Subsequently, I've never had any problem going through
customs at airports carrying 35mm and 120.

Alternatively, there are a lot of photographers in Mexico,
it's likely you could find a darkroom to use. Check with a
university or US consulate in a city, they may be able to
help. Not too much help for the chrome, though.

You should be concerned about keeping your equipment, same
as anywhere else in the world. Where will you be going in Mexico?
