Michael,
Your newer glass will probably perform better than a red dot artar or a
gold ring artar etc. The Artars are pretty good lenses and are usually
found in barrel rather than shutters.
The red dot and gold ring were marketing techniques used by Goerz to help
sell their lenses - gold ring is later than red dot. The lenses are single
coated and excellent for their time. If the cost of new glass is
frightening then they are a good choice for 8x10.
