Re: [Largeformat] Photo trip to the South West (was Re. Red Dot Artar 14" f:9)

Now the Tuscon area I like a lot, and the desert between
Tuscon and Phoenix. Thing I remember most about Phoenix,
aside from it's general ugliness at the time, is being
followed from one downtown center (there were roughly two
sets of high rises then, perhaps now there's just one bigger
city) to another by a cop, must have gone on for 4 miles or
so. I was on a motorcycle with DC plates, guess that
offended him as there was certainly no other reason to
follow me, no speeding or erratic driving. Finally, the
tailight didn't work at one stop light, he got his ticket. Jerk.

And now that I'm on it, there was the time we were going to
TR resevoir/dam/rec area from Scottsdale. Two passing
trailers jammed up the dirt (or rather sand) very small
road. Behind us were piles of cars, drivers yelling
(literally), horns honking. We just didn't want to be in
front of those crazy people, so we pulled the bikes onto
what could be considered the shoulder of the road,
definitely out of the way. A cop pulled up and started
yelling (literally, top of his voice, no calm prelude) at us
about getting tickets for stopping on a "state highway",
we're talking 28 miles of 2 very narrow lanes of dirt and
sand. Another jerk. Together those two cost the Phoenix area
a lot of money, then and now. I'll never spend a dime there.
