Alledgedly not that sharp but used a lot for portraiture. I have had 
a couple in my hands over the years but never been that tempted as I 
prefer to use symmetric design lenses due to the compromises inherent 
in a tele.

If you want soft focus then a soft focus lens is the best option :-)

The tele will require less bellows than an equivalent symmetric 
design 270mm lens though.....
