Hello Christiane,

Compur shutter have been around since the year dot, are made in 
Germany, are reliable and expensive. Copal shutters are of Japanese 
manufacture, are a little cheaper than Compurs and are also reliable. 
There is little to choose between a modern Copal and Compur except 
that the Compur will probably last longer and cost you more.

Modern glass is in Copal shutters because they are quite good 
shutters and are cheaper than Compurs.....
