<font size=4 color="#008000">On Verna's essay and other writings,<br>

I agree that film (or any silver process) is going to be a
dinosaur.&nbsp; And, I love dinosaurs.<br>
<br>
Making film and photo paper is a real complicated process, only cut out
for a few big companies like big Yellow, Green and Blue
(Mitsubishi/Konica).&nbsp; I heard a lecture on all the technologies
involved and it is mindboggling how they can &quot;lay&quot; 8 or more
layers of already high tech photosensitive material on a piece of
polyester film or paper at extremely high speeds.<br>
<br>
It does bother me too that a sheet of 8x10 photopaper (the silverhalide
stuff) cost about 30 cents and a photo quality &quot;glossy&quot; or
matte paper, that doesnt even has an emulsion on it, cost 50 cents or
more, not counting cost of ink.<br>
<br>
The main problem of consumer all digital right now is the speed of&nbsp;
producing 4x6 snapshots.&nbsp; Automated film and print processors don't
print photos but print &quot;money&quot; right now (as a sales rep
eloquently put it).&nbsp; So once they can produce fast cheap snapshot
size prints, film will be doomed.<br>

What happens next is only a good guess.<br>
<br>
In the mean time we embrace both technologies.<br>
