Re: [Largeformat] Re: Photo 101 - Class 25 - Incident meters

I had occasion to talk to a female photographer friend of mine the
other day. She shoots cowboys and rodeos and such and makes prints
herself. She has had success at doing this and has a fairly good
business going. However, she lamented to me that a next door
nieghbor questioned why she spent so much time in the darkroom when
he can do everything she can do and more on his Mac. He said she was
a dinosaur and that her world was going away and she should not waste
her time.

I told her that if I had a print of hers and a print of his.....hers
would be more valuable, and in my opinion the truer art. Of course
that is a point for deep debate. I see it like painting and
photography. It is just a technical evolution and photography, film,
and the darkroom are not going away. (We still have many many
painters.) Isn't it wonderful how popular B&W prints are now!
